Driving in the heart of New York can be dangerous due to the volume of traffic. Sadly, each year many people fall victim to these busy streets when they are hurt or killed in a car wreck. A 27-year-old man recently suffered this fate when he was severely injured in a Staten Island car accident earlier this month. The man was a passenger in a sedan when a Jeep Grand Cherokee swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into his vehicle. The sedan spun around until it partially ran over a curb.

The head-on collision left the man in critical condition. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the Sedan and the driver of the Jeep were also taken to the hospital and were in stable condition. Police have reported that the driver of the Jeep will be facing criminal charges.

When it comes to injurious accidents, drivers who are found liable may be held accountable for the physical, emotional and financial burdens they have caused. In many cases, this means accident victims who suffer various injuries including broken bones, brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, may be able to recover compensation for their medical expenses. They might also recover lost wages for having to take time off work as a result of these injuries. Money may also be awarded to help ease a victim’s pain and suffering.

Recovering from a car accident can be difficult physically, emotionally, and financially. Though victims may not want to think about taking legal action while they are trying to recover their health, doing so could make a huge difference. Therefore, it oftentimes behooves car crash victims to consider their legal options and potentially speak with a legal professional who can help them develop their case.
